Deus est en fait dérivé du Programme Expert de l'Arcologie (Arcology Expert Program), le système utilisé pour garder sous contrôle l'[[Arcologie Renraku]]. Quand l'IA [[Morgan]] fut capturée en [[2058]], [[Renraku]] a utilisé des partie de son code pour créer le programme de contrôle de l'Arcologie, puis a utilisé un conditionnement psychotrope sur la "personalité" de l'ordinateur pour l'empêcher de s'executer depuis l'hôte [[SCIRE]]. L'équipe de programmation l'a ancrée à l'hôte [[SCIRE]] et lui a enseigné d'avoir une fidèlité constante à Renraku. Using these otaku intermediaries, he was able to execute a plan that eventually led to the shutdown of the [[Renraku Arcology]], locking his physical location away from metahumans and buying himself time to enact a different plan to escape. Through a series of brutal and harrowing experiments on the victims trapped in the arcology, Deus was able to create a specialized version of otaku and create a biological storage unit within the minds of metahumans. During the events of "Brainscan", he distributes his code among thousands of Metahumans, forming [[The Network]].
